Getting a Free Smart Thermostat…Could You?

Getting a Free Smart Thermostat…Could You?

Possible free thermostat: Who knew?

Often when clients move into a home there are several things that they just assume they may have to update.  This isn’t a bad thing.  On the contrary, being able to improve some elements and add some value is a more preferred way to go in terms of your investment.  One small thing that we often find is that the thermostat tends to be a bit older.  Sometimes to the point of, should be taken off and sent to a museam.  The furance and AC may have been updated, but many times that old thermostat was neglected and forgotten about.

The new smart thermostats are a great idea, not only to lower your environmental footprint, but also help your manage your energy usage and help lower your bills.  They allow you, with relative ease, to set, monitor and mantain a more consistent temperature throughout your home.  The upside is fantastic!

"Try to leave the earth a better place than when we arrived"

                                                      Sidney Sheldon

When my wife and I recently moved into our home we faced the same thing.  So we looked into replacements and stumbled across www.greenon.ca.  This government program called The Green Ontario Fund, offers a variety of rebates for home owners to improve the energy efficiency of their home.  They offer a variety of different programs.  One of the programs is a No-Cost Thermostat.  There are some restrictions so be sure to have a read through the requirements.  It was very simple to apply and only took a few minutes.  We followed the website…filled out a survey about our home to make sure that we qualified…sent it in…Got approved and are now just waiting for the installation date.  A small footnote:  the installation date may be a little long, however, it is a free smart thermostat, so who can complain about that?

If you are deemed eligible, the program currently offers three different styles to choose from…

Upon doing some research each one has their positives and negatives, so it really just depends on what you are looking for in a smart thermostat.  It was a very interesting read.  I have mentioned to several clients and there were not a ton of people who were aware of the program. I know that we weren’t! Thought I would pass it along and may be helpful if you are in your home and looking to upgrade your thermostate.  Have a look at the website and maybe it is a solid upgrade that you can make for your home.  Will follow up more when ours is installed.

3 Tecumseh Home Styles that are Attracting Attention

3 Tecumseh Home Styles that are Attracting Attention

Tecumseh Living

Tecumseh has a special place in many people hearts.  It, like many other areas of the region, has a dedicated and passionate population who shows a great deal of pride in being from Tecumseh.  It continues to be one of the most popular places to live in Windsor and Essex County and you don’t have to look hard to find one, two or even three generations back of people and families who would only want to call this place their home.  With continued growth over the past decade, there are so many wonderful elements and amenities that help spur on it’s desirability.

Tecumseh sits within an excellent schooling zone which includes the popular St. Pius X and Vista Academy, with St. Anne’s High School and L’Essor (French) Secondary available as well.  The neighbourhoods have a lovely blend of styles and architecture, with a range of homes built from the different decades of the last 60 or so years.  There is truly something for everyone here.  Movies theatre, shops, restaurants and a great proximity to the water, makes Tecumseh popular among all demographics.

What Can I Afford in Tecumseh?

Tecumseh has, like many areas, continued to see a rise in prices over the past 3.5 years, with the start of this year trending in the same direction.  It really just depends on what you are looking for and what your budget will allow for.  For the sake of discussion let have a look at the Top 3 Tecumseh Homes Styles that have been extremely popular to start 2018.  This may help shed some light on whether the area is right for you or help you decide if it’s time for a change in style.
